Rakaia River Team Picnic

This Friday 3 February we are spending the afternoon with our buddy classes from our Rakaia River Group. Our Rakaia River is made up of our Year 1/2 children from Kohara, the Year 3/4 children from Ara Atu (R14/15) and the Year 5/6 children from Kahukura (R12/13).

A notice should be in the school bag with more information but we are looking forward to enjoying a picnic lunch down at Plynlimon Park and some fun games and sports with our older buddies. This is a great chance for us to connect with each other, make some new friends and help us get to know some of our more senior children which is always fabulous when we are out and about at school or in the playground.

Parent helpers are welcome to join us - just return the slip on the bottom of the notice if you'd like to help out. We'd love to see you :)

First Week Reminders

A few reminders for Week 1:

* Sunhats

* Stationery

* Drink Bottle

* Library Bag

* Reading Folder (if you are missing your folder from last year, please check with us as we have some belonging to children who have come through from Te Puna).

* Contact details form (from Day 1 newsletter)

* Parent Help return slip for our Rakaia River Team picnic at Plynlimon Park this Friday.

Many Thanks :)

Library Day

Our class library day is Friday. Please remember to send along a named library bag - the children can put these in the library boxes at either end of Kohara.

Swimming Days

Kohara have two class swimming sessions each week on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Please remember to pack named swimming togs, goggles and towels on those days.

There is also an optional lunchtime swim on a Tuesday for our Year 1/2 children so send togs on a Tuesday as well just in case the children decide to pop over for a dip in the pool!

Swimming starts tomorrow Wednesday 1 February!

Welcome to 2017!

Kiaora koutou and welcome to Kohara's blog.

It was fabulous to meet all the children today and to welcome back a few familiar faces as well. What a hot day to spend at school but the children were fabulous and we enjoyed getting to know them and hearing all about the wonderful family adventures you have all had over the holiday break.

We hope you all got to enjoy a free coffee or sausage at school today and the chance to check out all the fantastic visitors on site this morning. It was a lovely start to term 1.

We will be posting all our class notices and information on our class blog so please check regularly so you keep up to date all everything that is happening. An easy way to get our updates on here is to enter your email on the 'follow by email' link on the right hand side of the blog and then you'll get our updates emailed to you each morning - if you'd like any help with this, just pop in and we can help you out :)

The Links section also has some great links to literacy and numeracy games (some don't work so well on ipads so you may have to check). Our Kohara kids love playing these games, so much so, they often don't even realise they are learning and practising skills!

Enjoy checking out our blog - you can even look back and see many of the wonderful project learning our Kohara children did last year. Lots of inspiration to be found!
